Tutorial: Fix failed named in cpanel

Some times named fails randomly on a cpanel machine.

To fix this- do the following: (oh, you do this at your own risk though - so make sure you backup everything...)

From root enter these commands:

cd /var/named/
mkdir backup
mv *.db* backup/

We've just moved all the .db files to a backup directory

Now go to http://cplicensing.net/scripts.php and download the script called  "rebuildnamedzones" put this inside your scripts directory and chmode and chown it correctly.

run the script:

/scripts/rebuildnamedzones

Good,

Now backup named.conf

mv /etc/named.conf /etc/named.conf-backup

Run this script (standrad with cpanel)

/scripts/rebuildnamedconf

Your named should now restart.

service named restart
