What is overselling? Overselling explained

This article relates to the method or flavour of reseller hosting we offer (we also offer unlimited reseller hosting). it does not refer to the act of crowding servers beyond their capacity.

In short: it's the act of offering more than you have, with the understanding that most people won't use everything that you offer and hence leave you with some left over.

This allows you to offer more than you have. You are however limited by the actual space and bandwidth your reseller plan comes with.

Example:

• You have a reseller account that can hold 2000MB space.
• You offer your 10 clients 200MB space each (totals you 2000MB).
• On average they only use 20MB disk space each.

This will leave you with 1800MB space remaining (2000MB - (10MB x 20MB)) = (2000MB - 200MB) = 1800MB

Which will allow you to offer more people hosting without the need to upgrade.
